This submission was presented to the Standing Committee on General Government of the Ontario Legislature on May 31, 2004. The submission recommends 3 amendments to Bill 27, the Greenbelt Protection Act. These would expand the greenbelt protection area, include Niagara Escarpment lands in the moratorium on rezoning for urban development provided by the bill, and place approvals for highway and other major infrastructure expansions beyond existing urban settlement areas on hold during the greenbelt study period. The submission includes a map outlining the proposed highway extensions for the Greater Toronto Area and the Niagara Regions.
