Direct emissions reductions alone won't be enough to help all sectors achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, nor will it allow us to stay within the 1.5-degree warming scenario outlined in the Paris Agreement. Carbon dioxide removal (CDR), which involves pulling carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and then securely storing it, can help get us there.
But are corporations operating in Canada prepared to use this effective tool at their disposal? The Pembina Institute's CDR Centre sent a questionnaire out to organizations that might be interested in CDR to learn about the demographics of interested buyers and identify perceived barriers. This is one of the first public buyer scans in Canada.
The results of the scan will help inform the strategy of the CDR Centre, so we can maximize the impact our tools and resources can have on increasing the number of buyers in Canada.
