Methane by the Numbers

Public Conference
May. 7 9:00am - May. 8 5:00pm, 2025 (EDT)
Carleton University

CanCH4 Symposium is a national cross-sectoral gathering of experts from academia, government, and the private sector that meets to share latest methane research, technological development, measurement data, and analytics with the goal of advancing science, policy, and action to reduce methane emissions.

Amanda Bryant, a senior analyst with the Pembina Institute's oil and gas program, will present on “A Jurisdictional Comparison of Oil and Gas Methane Regulations,” describing how oil and gas methane regulations compare across regions (including Canada’s proposed federal regulations), examining best practices and which jurisdictions are at the forefront of methane policy, and why leadership means continually being willing to collect and learn from good measurement data and progressively strengthen targets and regulations.

This annual event is a part of coordinated national effort to streamline methane research activities in Canada, share new information across jurisdictions and sectors, encourage collaborations on measurement studies, analytics, and technology innovation; facilitate open discussions on current data and implications, and accelerate the emissions reduction pathways.
