Stream 4: Fuel switching retrofits at scale
East Meeting Room 10
Description: Retrofit programs and policies that concentrate on improvements in energy efficiency alone will be insufficient in meeting our carbon emissions reduction targets. That’s why industry actors, from local governments to building owners, must support and engage in deep emissions retrofits of existing buildings. This session explores some of the key components of fuel switching retrofits using the concept of market transformation. The session presents a roadmap that identifies the regulatory and other tools necessary to make the switch, as well as the experiences of two large owners – BC Housing and QuadReal – in achieving cost-effective retrofits at scale.
