Simon Dyer is the deputy executive director of the Pembina Institute, Canada’s leading clean energy think tank. Simon has worked on natural resource management issues in western Canada since 1999. Simon holds a Master of Science degree in environmental biology and ecology from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Arts in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge in the U.K.

Formerly director of the Institute's oilsands program, Simon is the co-author of over 40 Pembina Institute publications and has represented the Pembina Institute at many regulatory and parliamentary hearings and multistakeholder processes. In 2013 he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work to support environmentally responsible energy development in Alberta and Canada.
