A joint letter signed by 14 major Canadian environmental groups, including WWF-Canada, the David Suzuki Foundation and the Pembina Institute, calls for the Minister to strengthen the proposed system for granting credits for carbon offsets. As proposed, the offsets system grant offset credits both to “business-as-usual” reductions that would have happened anyway, and to emission reductions that have already been accounted for elsewhere in the government’s climate plan.
