Energy labelling provides information about a building’s efficiency to allow owners and occupants to make decisions that reduce energy consumption. This review examines voluntary and mandatory labelling initiatives, plus initiatives for mandatory minimum energy efficiency. Mandatory approaches seem to be more effective than voluntary programs.
