Energy Efficiency in the Alberta Building Code

The Government of Alberta has recently abandoned its efforts to increase energy efficiency requirements in the building code and is waiting to adopt the next version of the National Building Code.

The Pembina Institute and the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association of Canada are calling on the government to put in place an interim step to help industry transtion to the higher standard. Every year adoption of a new building code is delayed costs Albertans hundreds of millions of dollars.
