This report was completed for the Calgary Region Airshed Zone and looks at the potential impact of changes to energy efficiency requirements in the Alberta Building Code on particulate matter (PM) and ozone (O3) precursor emissions in the region.
The results found that if building standards equivalent to those in other Canadian provinces were adopted, emissions from residential, commercial and institutional buildings in CRAZ would be reduced by an amount equivalent to 10% of 2006 emission levels within 10 years, and over 40% of 2006 levels by 2050.
