Calgary — Ed Whittingham, Executive Director at the Pembina Institute, made the following statement in response to the death of Jim Prentice.

"I and all of us at the Pembina Institute are saddened to learn of Jim Prentice’s untimely death. I had a great deal of respect for Mr. Prentice. As federal Environment Minister he recognized the importance of strong environmental management policies and he accomplished a lot on conservation issues.

Later, as the premier of Alberta, he displayed his genuine interest in tackling climate change on a provincial level. His hard work and consistent willingness to respect others’ points of view were always productive and deeply appreciated by all who work on these issues.”
