Pembina reacts to Emissions Reduction Alberta announcement

Emissions Reduction Alberta (ERA), formerly Climate Change and Emissions Management Corporation, will invest in projects to advance technologies to support Alberta’s Climate Leadership Plan

Calgary, AB — Duncan Kenyon, Director of Unconventional Oil and Gas at the Pembina Institute, made the following statement in response to ERA announcement:

“Addressing methane reductions is a great place for early targeted action. Methane is a potent, short-term greenhouse gas that contributes to 25 per cent of the climate change effects we are experiencing today.”

“With a redesigned technology fund, the province is well positioned to invest in innovative projects and technologies that support Albertans. The potential for clean technologies to spur economic growth is clear and government must support this through investment agencies like Emissions Reduction Alberta.”

“ERA can enable medium and long-term methane emissions reduction by  supporting innovative technologies and projects in our province to create real GHG reductions and create economic opportunities.”
