Matt Horne, B.C. Associate Director at the Pembina Institute, made the following comments today in response to Premier Christy Clark’s announcement that the province will be developing Climate Action Plan 2.0:
“It's great that B.C. is committing to a second phase of its Climate Action Plan. This is positive for the province and will boost momentum in Canada and abroad in the lead-up to the Paris climate summit this December.
“The first phase of the Climate Action Plan has been an economic and environmental success because of actions like the carbon tax, the low-carbon fuel standard and the clean energy requirements. The time is right to build on that success.
“Climate change represents a huge challenge so the bar will be high for B.C.’s efforts. The successful first phase of the Climate Action Plan gives confidence in B.C.’s ability to succeed."
