HALIFAX — Tim Weis, director of renewable energy and efficiency policy at the Pembina Institute, will be available to comment Monday on a joint announcement by the federal government and the province of Nova Scotia on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Canada’s Environment Minister, Peter Kent, and Nova Scotia Minister of the Environment, Sterling Belliveau, announced today that they are working towards an equivalency agreement on greenhouse gas regulations for coal-fired electricity
An equivalency agreement would see the federal regulations stand down in favour of a provincial regulation, as long as the provincial regulation achieves an equivalent environmental outcome.
