Bullfrog Power, a leading Canadian provider of 100 per cent green electricity, and the Pembina Institute, a national non-profit environmental organization dedicated to advancing sustainable energy solutions, today jointly announced the formation of a new partnership to promote the benefits of renewable power to Canadians. As part of the partnership, the Pembina Institute will align its "Wind Power by Pembina" program with green power provider, Bullfrog Power.
The Pembina Institute launched its Wind Power by Pembina program in 2003 to stimulate demand for green power and offer consumers an environmentally sustainable alternative to the default electricity mix on the grid. "Partnering with Bullfrog Power to deliver green power to homes and businesses will help to further advance our goal of increasing renewable energy use," said Marlo Raynolds, Executive Director of the Pembina Institute.
Bullfrog Power provides homes and businesses with a practical, easy way to go green and help create a cleaner, healthier environment for future generations. Bullfrog has been providing its green power service in Ontario since late 2005, and is now extending its service to Albertan homes and businesses. All of Bullfrog's power comes from clean, renewable sources including made-in-Alberta wind power. Bullfrog sources power exclusively from generating facilitates that have received Environment Canada's Environmental Choice Program EcoLogo certification.
As part of the partnership, the Pembina Institute will transition its commercial and residential "Wind Power by Pembina" customers to Bullfrog Power, but will continue its national Wind Power Computers campaign. Residential customers who sign up for Bullfrog Power through the Pembina Institute will receive a discount and help support the work of the Institute. Bullfrog will work collaboratively with the Pembina Institute to accelerate demand for green power and support the growth of the renewable power industry in Alberta and across Canada.
"We're delighted to have the support of the Pembina Institute," said Theresa Howland, VP Western Region, Bullfrog Power. "The Pembina Institute and Bullfrog share a commitment to increasing the market for clean, renewable power in our overall energy mix and this partnership will help us achieve that."
"Individual action can make a big difference in the fight to stop climate change. Albertans have an incredible opportunity to choose clean, green electricity with Bullfrog," said Marlo Raynolds, Executive Director of the Pembina Institute. "It's an easy and important step we can all take to help protect our environment."
