National Building Decarbonization Forum Pathways to Electrification

The National Building Decarbonization Forum: Pathways to Electrification conference brings together industry leaders, construction professionals, civil society representatives, government officials, Indigenous leaders, and others to explore the most promising pathways to achieve net-zero through building electrification.

Through engagement, information exchange, and in-depth discussions, the conference will unpack the challenges and opportunities, and identify the immediate actions needed to accelerate the transition to net-zero buildings.

Betsy Agar, director of the Pembina Institute's Buildings program, will be moderating a session on Developing the Market: Labour, Equipment, and Service Supply for Decarbonization:

Electrification is a viable pathway to achieving net zero, but realizing its full potential and driving investment into the right electrification products, solutions, and services requires us to develop a deeper understanding of the economic opportunities. While electrification presents a tremendous market opportunity in terms of jobs, product sales, and services, current labour shortages, construction and retrofit business models, and product supply could all potentially slow the pace of decarbonization. This session will discuss the challenges and opportunities for Canadian businesses and workers, and explore where investments will need to be made and why.
